Community

HSBC supports the communities in which we operate through the engagement of our employees and financial contributions to support their efforts. We encourage our staff to share their skills and realise their full potential as citizens by engaging in local community projects. Around the world, our staff at all levels are supporting projects in their local communities and raise funds for causes close to their hearts.

Our community activities focus on bringing a lasting benefit to the local community, and help communicate and reinforce our commitment to the community, and have the potential to achieve public awareness and enhance HSBC's reputation as a public-spirited organisation.

Refugees International Japan

Refugees International Japan is a non-profit organisation that raises funds to help refugees throughout the world, particularly children, women and the elderly. It provides emergency aid and relief in crisis situations and supports longer term rehabilitation. In 2007, HSBC staff and our clients joined together to participate in a spectacular Charity Grand Auction to raise more than JPY25 million.

FIT for Charity

The Financial Industry in Tokyo (FIT) for Charity Run was established in 2005 to provide an opportunity for people in the financial and related industries to come together to support community organisations, many of which are insufficiently funded and not well recognised for the good work they do. In 2007, HSBC fielded a 200 person strong team in the event helping to raise approximately JPY1.45 million.
