HSBC Premier Online Account Opening Process

Step 1
Complete the "HSBC Premier Online Account Opening Form" for a Yen Savings Account, bundled with Telephone Banking Services and HSBC Premier ATM Card*.
* Telephone Banking Services and ATM Card are mandatorily bundled with HSBC Premier Account opened via the "HSBC Premier Online Account Opening" facility.
* You can also apply for the other services and facilities (e.g. Multi Currency Savings Account) through your dedicated Relationship Manager afterwards.

Step 2
After you have submitted the online application, we will call you in 24 hours to confirm your inputs. (Approximate Time Required: 15 minutes)

Step 3
Your account will then be pre-opened, an ATM Card be issued; you will also be assigned a dedicated Relationship Manager.
* Please note you account is not activated (no deposit and/or withdrawal will be allowed) until you complete the remaining steps listed below.

Step 4
Your HSBC Premier ATM Card will be delivered via Registered Mail or Tokuden Delivery Service provided by Japan Post. For details of the Tokuden Delivery service, please refer to "About ATM Card Delivery via Registered Mail (Tokuden Type)" below.

Step 5
At anytime after you have submitted the online applications, please mail us (1) a copy of your Identification Document (copies of 2 Identification Documents for non-Japanese nationals), (2) an original of your Residential Address Proof, and (3) your signature or seal to be registered with us, to the below address.

You can register your signature or seal via this "HSBC Premier Signature/Seal Registration Form". It is also available for download at our "Download Forms and Documents" session. Or alternatively, the form is also available along the HSBC Premier Welcome Pack which you will be receiving.

Step 6
Upon receipt of your signed (or sealed) Signature/Seal Registration Form and supporting documents, we will proceed to activating your HSBC Premier account.
* Please note, in case any of your returned supporting documents are invalid/insufficient, we will contact you and request for resending the proper documents.

Step 7
Once your HSBC Premier account is activated, you will receive a call from dedicated Relationship Manager (RM). Afterwards, you can start enjoying HSBC Premier services.
* Your Telephone Banking PIN and ATM PIN will also be delivered afterwards.

Notes


• HSBC Premier Account Online Account Opening in Japan is only available for a resident of Japan aged 20 or over. There may be cases where we ask you to visit our branches for account opening.
• The services will be limited if you an non-resident of Japan.
• We will cancel your online application if:
- we cannot contact you to confirm your inputs (Step 2) within 30 days after your submission of Online Account Opening Form
- your ATM Card is not delivered properly (Step 4)
- we do not receive your Signature/Seal Registration Form, as well as your Identification and Residential Address Proof Documents within 90 days after your submission of Online Account Opening Form.
• In principle, if the monthly average balance requirements are not met in the previous month, a monthly below balance fee of 5,000 yen inclusive of tax will be charged and service offerings may be restricted.
• Deposits with HSBC in Japan are not covered under the Deposit Insurance scheme in Japan.



About ATM Card Delivery via Registered Mail (Tokuden Type)
1. Your HSBC Premier ATM Card will be delivered via Registered Mail (Tokuden Type).
2. You will receive a notification letter from Japan Post.
3. Please call the telephone number as shown on the notification letter to schedule a delivery of ATM Card. Or alternatively, you can collect the mail-delivery by visiting the directly-managed Japan Post branches.
4. Please note only the addressee (i.e. yourself) can receive any Registered Mail (Tokuden Type) delivery. Even your family members are not allowed to receive this on your behalf.
5. You will need to show your Identification Document in receiving the ATM Card delivery. This Identification Document has to be the same as what you have input on the Online Account Opening Form as well as the copy of Identification Document to be submitted.
6. After recording the information from your Identification Document, the post officer will deliver your HSBC Premier ATM Card to you.
7. Information (including your Identification Document number) recorded by the post officer will be verified by HSBC Premier subsequently. Therefore, do not show other Identification Documents. Although you can still receive the ATM Card, your account will not be activated if this Identification Document number recorded is different from what you have input on the Online Account Opening Form (and/or the copy of Identification Document to be submitted).

Please note, we will cancel your online application if:
- you refuse to receive the HSBC Premier ATM Card, or
- you refuse to show your Identification Document or allow the post officer to record the information, or
- the address on your Identification Document is different from the one which you have input on the Online Account Opening Form.



About Identification Document and Residential Address Proof Document
1. You are required to send one copy of your Identification Document (2 Identification Documents for non-Japanese nationals) and one original of your Residential Address Proof Document to activate your account.
2. The copy of the Identification Document to be submitted must be the one as you have selected on the Online Account Opening Form.
3. The address shown on your Residential Address Proof Document must be the same as your input on the Online Account Opening Form.
4. If the documents have expiry dates, they have to be valid on the date of submission. If they do not have expiry dates, they have to be issued within the past 6 months*.
*Bank statement / Credit card statement and Receipt of other utility bills have to be issued within the past 6 months.
5. You may black out your Place of Birth, Disabilities, Religion and Political Affiliations on the copy of Driver's License, Alien Registration Card, or on the original of your Certified Copy of Residence Certificate.
6. If you are submitting Receipts of Utility Bills as residential address proof document, please ensure the name and address shown must be exactly the same as your Identification Document.
7. Please note documents submitted to us will not be returned.
